Health Factors Among Children and Young People

This section covers the health and wellbeing of children and young people in Hull providing statistics and information relating to Physical Health, Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing, Accidents and Injuries, A&E Attendances and Hospital Admissions, Neurodiversity, Oral Health, Screening and Vaccinations, and Under 18 Conceptions. Information relating to Children with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities is also given within this section.

Further information is available on Carers, Children in Care and Care Leavers, Gypsy and Travellers, people who are Homeless, people who have Learning Disabilities, LGBTQ+, people who have severe Mental Ill Health, and Veterans can be found under Vulnerable Groups as well as information on Multiple Unmet Needs. Most of this information within the Vulnerable Groups does relate to adults, but there is some information included, where available, for children and young people.

Information on lifestyle and behaviour factors which affect health are available under Lifestyle Factors within Children and Young People.

Information on secondary school pupils has also been collected on general health, emotional wellbeing, and risk factors for health (smoking, diet, physical activity, alcohol consumption, substance use) within Hull’s Health and Wellbeing Surveys and full reports are available under Surveys within Tools and Resources.

Information relating to pregnancy and maternal health, infant health, and stillbirths and infant mortality is available under Pregnancy and Infants within Children and Young People.

Information relating to the wider determinants of health are included in Health and Wellbeing Influences and this section also includes information on schools, education and qualifications as well as young people who are not in education, employment or training.
