The Office for National Statistics ‘back-date’ their recent estimates of the resident population once more accurate Census data becomes available. Their revised estimates were released for each local authority on the 23 November 2023.
The Office for Health Improvement & Disparities removed all of their ‘trends over time’ information from their Fingertips tool prior to this, but the majority of indicators that relied on the population estimates were updated in February 2024 with the new ‘back-revised’ population estimates. However, not all indicators from Fingertips have been updated for the revised population estimates, and this information will be updated in due course.
Furthermore, the back-dated population estimates for lower geographies (e.g. wards) are not due to be published by the Office for National Statistics until Autumn 2024. This has delayed the updating of some of the pages on this website, for example, pages that contain hospital admission, mortality or life expectancy data at ward level or by local deprivation fifths.
